Essential Housing Program

The Redford participates in the Essential Housing Program, which serves essential workers whose household income is at or below the published percentage of Area Median Income. Worker categories include healthcare, education, emergency services, law enforcement, military, restaurant, retail, and grocery. Total income includes additional earnings such as second jobs, bonuses, and other sources.

The Redford participates in and accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8).

Qualifying and applying

Gross annual household income must not exceed the program limits for the household size, and the applicant must earn a minimum of 2.5 times the monthly rent. Applications include standard background, credit, eviction, and rental-history checks.

What you need to apply

  • A completed application for every resident 18 and older

  • Income verification, including Housing Choice Voucher information if applicable

  • Documentation of any additional assets

  • Two years of rental history

Rent and income limits

Limits are set each year from the Harris County area median income and apply to the 2026 program year, effective on or after May 1, 2026. Ask the leasing office at The Redford which tier applies to a particular home.
